Local sports funding winners announced

"Ripper, bonza, you beauty" are just some of the reactions from Maroochydore MP Fiona Simpson over news that Sunshine Coast sporting clubs have won grants in the State Government's latest grants rounds.
Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said she was thrilled to announce that the Maroochydore Surf Life Saving Club and the Mooloolaba Outrigger Canoe Club have been awarded $100,000 each in the latest funding round of the State Government's "Get Playing" grants.
The Maroochydore Surf Club will put the funds towards building new changing rooms, storage, first aid and training facilities which will help them support lifesavers who keep our beach safe as well as boost their capacity to host the 2016 Australian Surf Life Saving Championship.
The Outrigger Canoe Club will install an access ramp and pontoon for people with a disability to support canoeing and sailing at Mooloolaba.
"The Sunshine Coast is a sporting mecca. Every dollar these sporting clubs receive is well and truly well used for the benefit of the community. I am thrilled by this news," Ms Simpson said.
"This money will make a big difference to these hardworking clubs."
"Get Playing" provides grants of up to $100,000 to improve facilities at grass root sport and recreation clubs across Queensland as part of the Newman LNP Government’s $68 million Get in the Game program.
The successful funding recipients of "Get Going" (grants of up to $10,000) and "Get Playing Plus" (grants from $400,000 - $1.5 million) will be announced soon.
