Crack down on crime at local beaches

Crack down on crime at local beaches

Beach Watch is a great new initiative to crack down on crime at our beaches, launched at Mooloolaba this week.

Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson attended the launch with Police Commissioner Ian Stewart and Mayor Mark Jamieson.

Beaches and the car parks that service them are often singled out as the subject for crime including theft and anti-social behaviour.

A significant amount of this unwanted activity is preventable and can be deterred.

The aim of Beach Watch is to harness the resources of local government, Neighbourhood Watch, Surf Lifesaving QLD, the local community and police in a partnership aimed at reducing the incidence of crime at local beaches and surrounding car parks.
