New Year Funding Wins for Local Sports Clubs
Ten local sporting clubs will be celebrating a great start to 2016 with news of State Government
Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said that nine clubs in her electorate had been successful in gaining grants of up to $7,500 for new equipment and get more people into sport under round 4 the State Government’s Get Going program, introduced by the LNP Government.
In addition, the Maroochy Branch Little Athletics club will receive a funding boost of $53,072 to upgrade athletics facilities at Maroochydore State High School under round 4 of the Get Playing Places and Spaces program.
“These successful local clubs will benefit from new equipment, activities and promotions to help boost membership numbers and get more people active on the Sunshine Coast,” Ms Simpson said.

Ms Simpson urged local clubs to apply for the next funding rounds of this highly successful program which opens 1 July 2016.
She also encouraged parents who struggle to cover the cost of sporting registration or participation fees to register for the Get Started vouchers program. Parents of eligible children and young people may apply
for a voucher that provides up to $150 to help with the costs of membership and participation fees for sports clubs registered with the program.
Applications for the Get Started vouchers program open 27 January 2016.
