Maroochydore’s better bus network
Maroochydore residents are being encouraged to get on board their better bus network which kicks starts from Monday, November 25.
Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said providing better public transport was important to reduce traffic congestion in the Maroochydore CBD.
“Route 602 and 617 buses are now servicing Maroochy Boulevard and routes 610, 612, 620 and 622 will have more direct travel through Maroochydore, providing faster journeys for customers,” Ms Simpson said.
“We’re also ramping up options for Maroochydore residents connecting with trains, providing seven more bus/train connections at Landsborough station each weekday on route 615.
“Maroochydore residents studying or working at the University of the Sunshine Coast have improved timetables that allow students to arrive around 10 minutes before classes start and leave uni around 10 minutes after classes finish.
“It’s also much easier to head south with route 600 now operating on a high-frequency corridor between Maroochydore and Caloundra, via Kawana Shoppingworld, every 12 minutes from 7am to 5pm weekdays and every 15 minutes on weekends.
“Travelling north to Noosa will also be quicker with route 622 no longer travelling via Bli Bli.”
Ms Simpson said the new Maroochydore station would encourage people to use public transport.
“I’m pleased to see this terrific new piece of public transport infrastructure for the Sunshine Coast nearing completion,” Ms Simpson said.
“We’ve achieved a major milestone with the new platforms now operational and have taken a significant step towards the project being complete.
“Works will now continue on landscaping and the amenities buildings on the eastern side of Horton Parade, with the project scheduled to be completed by late January.”
