Car rego will rise today under the State Labor Government, bringing the increase to 19.4% since the Palaszczuk Labor Government took office in Queensland.
LNP Small Business Shadow Minister and Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson has called on the State Government to freeze rego and give people a break from the hikes.
Ms Simpson said: “The only thing certain about the State Labor Government is that they want your money and taxes always rise under Labor, even in a global pandemic when businesses have been smashed.
“With one hand Labor drip feeds grants most people can’t access while they rip money out of people’s pockets with another.
“I voted against this rego hike as it comes at a terrible time for business and householders. The increase of 1.8% on July 1, adds up to a significant 19.4% increase since the State Labor Government came to power in contrast to the LNP State Government which froze rego for three years.”
Ms Simpson said that at time of such financial distress and impact on small businesses and households, right now is the time for a rego freeze again.
