State MP Fiona Simpson is calling for clarity and direction around the Queensland border reopening.
Amanda Gawthrop and Milan Somerville are getting married on the 8th of August and want their family (who all reside interstate) to attend their wedding. Right now there is no clarity around whether their family will be able to cross the border to attend the important occasion.
Ms Simpson said that the uncertainly is creating a completely negative emotional experience in a time when Amanda and Milan should be celebrating their union.
“The family all need to know that the borders will be opened and that they can proceed with organising accommodation, travel and everything else,” Ms Simpson said.
“Amanda and Milan are not able to cancel the wedding which has been planned for months.
“It is a joyous occasion when everyone should be celebrating and not worrying about whether they can be together.
“People need more than a few days notice. This is their lives and their future.
Ms Simpson is calling for Annastacia Palaszczuk to stop the control tactics and provide clarity. The Government’s original Roadmap flagged a 10 July state border reopening and then the Premier a few days later said it could instead be September.
